CBO “Dzama” Organizes a Charity Concert in Village Kekijvari
|
On November 4 CBO Dzama in cooperation with Horizonti Gori office conducted a community event in village Kekhijvari (Shida Kartli). It was a present to the community members for their hard work during the past year. The event took place in House of Culture that the community had rehabilitated with own resources and with the assistance of Gamgeoba. At the event participated invited artists and students of theatrical institute originating from this community as well as local music and dance studio students. The competition in chess and checkers entitled “Fathers and Sons” was also conducted and winners were awarded prizes from Horizonti and CBO Dzama. Regional Gamgebeli, Parliamentarian, and Regional President of Soccer Federation were also invited at the concert. An announcement was made that Kekhijvari soccer team is becoming a member of Soccer Federation and the federation president presented the local team with sports uniform and soccer balls. In summer 2004 in the frames of Horizonti’s small grants program CBO Dzama successfully implemented its project and fenced the village stadium that is now successfully used for training of children’s soccer team and conducting regional tournaments there. At the same time the concert was charitable and the invited guests made financial contributions for rehabilitation of St. George’s Church. This event was a good illustration how the CBO can organize events and fundraise for community needs.
CBO Dzama was organizationally established in 2004 and together with the Horizonti Foundation leads community mobilization activities in Kekhijvari Community. This Community is selected as top ten in Georgian Energy Security Initiative that is implemented by the PA Consulting and Winrock International in partnership with the Horizonti Foundation with financial support of the USAID.
