In 2001, with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (US), the Horizonti Foundation for the Third Sector implemented a one-year project called ‘Active Society and Media: Dialogue with the Government’ in the Telavi and Akhaltsikhe districts. The project included four cycles of TV programs and aimed at
demonstrating the guiding principles underlying the roles of the non-governmental sector as the strongest institute of democracy, which uses the media as an effective tool for building civil society by greater citizen participation. The overall target was to effectively involve the districts’ population, mass media and governmental authorities into an active and mutually beneficial dialogue.
